Rewind Soon

What’s new

What’s new in the app, by version.

New

  • Share a clip a link right from the clip window: who can see it, who can comment, “Copy”, and the link expiry
  • Likes and comments under a clip replies, pinning, editing and deleting your own, hearts

Better

  • Power-saving mode and excluded programs the clip is stitched together without a frozen picture, and the sound stays in sync
  • Encoder all graphics card encoders are tried first, and only then the processor

Fixed

  • Start in tray Rewind, when opened at Windows sign-in, no longer closes itself after a second
  • The window’s close button hides the app in the tray instead of closing it
  • A graphics card failure no longer stops recording the app rebuilds it from scratch
  • “Trim” and “Share” on a clip card open that exact clip
  • Trimming no longer silently replaces the original asks first; an unsaved trim is not lost when you click outside the window

New

  • A new look for the app dark and strict: content sits on a “sheet”, with an icon strip on the left, settings grouped into 13 sections, and the window opening larger and centered on screen
  • People following and followers, search by nickname, a notification bell, block and report; pop-up notifications do not appear during gameplay
  • Profile page banner, games and achievements, gear, in-game nicknames, goal and “want to play”, custom text; editable right on the page, with avatar frames, background, and color
  • New sign-in choice of service, language by flags; the sign-in key refreshes itself once a week
  • Long recording the app can record the entire game; the “Bookmark” key marks spots, and sessions are stored separately from moments
  • Tray menu its own window: recording status, icons and the “Save moment” key
  • “About the clip” section in the clip window game, date, length and size; “Share” sits to the right of the title
  • New app icon a key instead of a lightning bolt: on the file, in the taskbar, in the window and in the tray

Better

  • Notification over the game with a frame from the clip, an icon and a color by event
  • Alert sounds new and soft, recorded by Google sound designers (CC BY 4.0 license)
  • Dark sheet a light in the accent color gently “breathes” from the center
  • Albums as cards with a cover
  • Wider profile in a wide window the blocks line up in three columns
  • The app icon at the top left is now larger
  • Warnings as a card with an icon and an importance color; “Clean up” leads to “Storage”
  • Library “Longest” sorts by clip length rather than file size; days start on a new line, filters and games appear as chips with counts
  • Auto-moments are merged a 3K → 4K → ace chain is saved as a single clip
  • “What’s new” window appears over the app, missed releases are not lost, and there is an “All releases” feed

Fixed

  • A clip with speech in a quiet room is no longer labeled “saved without sound”

New

  • Auto moments in Counter-Strike 2 the app automatically saves a clip on a 3K, 4K, ace, knife or Zeus kill, one-tap, and collateral, through Valve’s official channel, without touching the game
  • CS2 config file the app places it in the game folder itself; if CS2 was running at that moment, restart it, since the game reads the file only at launch
  • Auto moments by mode enabled in CS2 Competitive, Wingman, and Casual, and disabled in Deathmatch and others; modes and events can be changed on the “Auto moments” page
  • Multiple clip hotkeys each has its own length: for example, F8 for the last 30 seconds, F10 for the last 2 minutes; the middle or side mouse buttons can also be assigned to clips
  • Sound alerts clip saved, snapshot, long recording started and stopped, “failed”; they do not end up in the recording; the switch and volume are on the “Moments” page

Better

  • Keys are not taken away from the game the keypress reaches both the game and the chat, and Rewind simply saves the clip; if you assign an ordinary letter, the app warns that the clip will also be saved while you type in chat
  • Recording buffer of up to 20 minutes it follows the longest key (if the settings had more, it becomes 20); if memory is short, the app trims the buffer and says so
  • Overlay badge in game tells you that recording is ready and which key to press to save, and shows the clip length if there are several keys

Fixed

  • A single word unknown to the language model used to disable voice recognition entirely now only that one will not work, while the other words do

Change

  • You no longer need to choose the voice language: the app picks the model that fits your words and shows on the settings page which one it chose
  • If a word doesn’t suit the selected model, the app says so in plain words and suggests how to spell it so that it works
  • The confidence threshold has been removed from settings: measurements showed the number doesn’t distinguish a spoken word from a random sound, and at high values it suppressed genuine triggers
  • The voice log now records every trigger, with the reason it was accepted or rejected

Auto moments

  • The app saves a clip by itself when you earn a rare Steam achievement, with the achievement name and a mark on the timeline

Change

  • On the “Auto moments” page, choose which achievements to save: very rare (5% of players or fewer), rare (10% or fewer), or all
  • Works for games launched through Steam: the app reads only what Steam itself writes to disk, nothing is injected into the game or into Steam
  • In the library, an auto moment has a lightning icon, and the “Auto moments” filter shows only those
  • Safeguard: no more than 10 minutes of auto-moments per hour from a single source the number can be changed in settings
  • For developers: an event listener on this computer so that other programs can save moments, off until you turn it on yourself

Change

  • The app now speaks three languages: Russian, English and Ukrainian the language is taken from Windows and can be changed in settings without a restart
  • Saving by voice understands all three languages, each with its own recognition model
  • After each save, the app checks the clip itself whether there is picture, sound and the right length, and it tells you right away if something is wrong
  • If saving fails, the app retries on its own
  • The app warns you in advance that disk space is running out, in the window, in the tray and over the game, while there is still time to free up space
  • No longer silent about failures it used to notice without saying anything: audio lost, encoder failed, game changed and the buffer restarted

Change

  • The main thing is fixed: previously, if the app noticed silence on the microphone, the saved moment stopped being processed the file appeared on disk, but it was as if it did not exist in the profile and library
  • Space cleanup never touches favorites or clips in albums anymore, and asks before deleting
  • Deleting a clip now sends it to the Windows Recycle Bin: you can restore the file from there the name, the star, the tags and the albums will all come back
  • While a window from the exclusion list is open in front of you, neither video, audio, nor microphone is recorded
  • A clip edit can be saved as a separate copy, and a regular save no longer deletes the original before the new file is ready
  • Clips from one play session are stacked together right in the library and expand in place
  • The estimated size of a future clip in settings is now calculated from your own recordings, not a formula, and is no longer overstated threefold
  • You now choose where the recording buffer lives on disk, and the folder limit states plainly what happens when it is reached

Change

  • The window is several times faster: the interface is drawn by the graphics card, not the processor on a library of 2000 clips at full screen it was 24 frames per second, now it is 101
  • A library with thousands of clips no longer lags: the app builds only the cards visible on screen
  • Renaming, tagging, and search no longer make the app re-read the entire clips folder
  • F11 toggles the window to full screen and back
  • A clip can now be viewed in full screen, and Escape returns to the normal view
  • Clip previews are saved to disk and are no longer regenerated on every launch
  • Clip size in settings is no longer a guess: it is calculated from your own clips, and screenshots are not included
